Visit the Depths area during nighttime and the summer season. The chances of catching this mythical fish increase significantly during these conditions. The best bait to use for luring the Barreleye fish is Deep Coral Bait. This bait reduces luck by 10 but increases resilience by 50.
There are numerous types of bait available, and you can obtain them by opening bait crates. These bait crates can be hooked out of the water using a fishing rod, or you can buy them on the starting island for 120 credits. Each bait crate contains 5 randomly obtained baits.
You don’t need to worry about the weather while catching this fish—just make sure it is nighttime, and the season is summer. You can use a Sundial Totem, which instantly changes the time of day. To maximize your chances, use it during the morning to immediately switch to night.
If you manage to hook the fish on your fishing rod, your progress speed will be reduced by 15%, and the exclamation mark will turn pink. The fish moves erratically, so you’ll need to keep the marker on the fish within the fishing bar. A bug that previously made catching the Barreleye fish impossible was fixed in the recent update.
